history

Founder Charles Kaman developed the first prototype of the Ovation guitar in 1965–1966. Charles Kaman, an amateur guitarist from an early age, worked on helicopter design as an aerodynamicist at United. Known as a guitar enthusiast, Kaman founded Ovation Instruments in 1966. The company became the Ovation Guitar Company and developed acoustic guitars using aerospace composites. Sales of guitars, which were ahead of the times, struggled at the beginning, but with the sale of electric acoustic guitars, it has grown into an industry-leading brand.

Features of Ovation

Ovation has a body structure called roundback. In a general guitar, the front plate and the back plate are almost the same shape and parallel, and it has a box shape with the side plates connecting between them, but in the bowl back, the part corresponding to the side plate and the back plate is old. It is shaped like a bowl, like a musical instrument lute, like a vertically split pear. Glass fiber reinforced plastic called “Rilacord” is used as the material. The external feature is the large and small sound holes called “leaf holes” used in “Adamasu” and “Elite”. A normal acoustic guitar has a sound hole, which is the part where the strings are played (there is a large hole in it, but there is a dead leaf-like design decoration called a leaf hole on the left and right of the upper string of the body. Has 22 small holes of various sizes. The sound has an unrivaled tone that is said to be “neither electric nor acoustic, ovation is the sound of ovation”. The midrange is soft. The punchy sound is excellent in separation and presence, and it resonates well both alone and in the band. I like the body material and structure for the ovation guitar with a unique sound quality that is different from Martin, Gibson, Guild, etc. Is a sound that breaks up considerably.
